The Plant that will not Die

I have never been very good with plants. I love them but they don't seem to last long for me. Lately I have been building some succulent plants out of glass. I don't even have to water them. I wanted something to give my Granddaughter to take to college. It's a cute little red flower to put on her desk in her dorm room. I also wanted to give her Mom and Dad a gift of congratulations for getting all their children through school. It's a big deal and they did a great job. I made a glass succulent in a glass planter. No water, no soil, no dried leaves, just green all the time.

I started with a planter box. I wanted there to be a raised bottom so I could put a battery lit candle underneath.

The top box is filled with clear glass globs and marbles to let the light filter up to the "plant".

The leaves remind me of an Aloe Vera plant. You can decide what kind of plant it is. When the leaves are all soldered together I can poke them into the bed of marbles as if they are growing there.

With the artificial candle on, it can serve as a night light.

There are many creative ways to use glass. This is a project I will be perfecting to make it easier to build and in a more efficient way. There is always more to learn.
